Heres a dilemma that, frankly, I dont know how to handle. It has to do with rival or competing blogs and websites posting links to their content here on this group. We have worked really, really hard over the past two years to build this group, our blog and our Facebook presence. Weve spent a whole lot of money and I also personally spend at least 50 hours a week working on all this. And what were finding is that other bloggers and coming here and posting links to their own content. The thing is, it just doesnt seem right to let them access our pages to promote their work, which takes people away from the content weve been working so guard to build. In business, this would be akin to someone putting up a sign on their competitors property urging the competitors customers to go elsewhere. Every day, I have to reject probably a half dozen people who are obvious spammers trying to get to our audience. The links from competing blogs arent quite so bad but, still, they are using us to market their content. I know, this is social media. Were all about family and community and its generally accepted practice to allow outside links of interest. But this really bugs me. I just feel taken advantage of and it makes me want to say to them.... go build your own audience and quit preying on ours. I feel better getting this off my chest. What dall think?
