Heres a funny crossing guard story for Valerie Valarie Heydinger - TopicsExpress

Heres a funny crossing guard story for Valerie Valarie Heydinger and anyone else who can imagine how this might have looked to Joe Public. Kim Opperman, as you probably know, is a wonderful cook. Over the years, she has shared many of her tasty dishes with our family. A few weeks ago she dropped off something at our house, and I tried to repay her with some frozen sausage. I put the meat in a Molson beer cooler that Brad had won in a golf scramble. A couple of days later, while I was subbing at SHS, Kim (who is a teacher at SHS and also a crossing guard in front of SMS) asked me what time I would be going home. I told her right after school. As I drove along East Smiley directly in front of the middle school, Kim was at her post. She stopped me at the crossing (no kids in sight), and she walked up to my car. In her hands were the bright orange crossing guard flag and the Molson cooler. Although she was trying discreetly to return the cooler, somehow that orange flag drew a bit of attention. I wondered how many passersby had to look twice as the school crossing guard was carrying a beer cooler:) Thanks, Kim for all you do to make the lives of others so much better!
