Heres a funny one: Lucy, the eight year old, was at her co-op school on Wednesday doing Fast Math in the computer lab when I went to pick her up. The math consultant told me that Lucy is a little too fast for fast math, and that if I wanted, I could do a different program with her that she would like better. She can do it at home and at school. Its a little something extra, for when you are done with your math, of course. Something with the extra cute name of Extra Math. I dont know why that cracks me up so much. But I think only a math teacher-type would come up with a program for kids called Extra Math. It just has that logical, no frills feel to it. Best part? Lucy is beside herself. She is so danged excited to play Extra Math She is her Nenes granddaughter. ;) (Daniels mom is a retired math teacher. Also a church pianist, and as Lucy is in the other room right now practicing piano, I am thinking, she really is her Grandmas girl.) :)
