Heres a good story, today I stopped my 4x4 about 10 to 15metres from a police camera van and proceeded to take photos see below, as they were parked on footpath. When I returned to my vehicle he ran up to me. I rolled my window down 1 inch and politly said, yes sir. He asked for my license I stated I have no contract with you sir He said dont need a contract He said I am ordering you to show license. I again stated the no contract. He asked me to wait. I aaked of I was under arrest he said no so I said no, I am leaving . Get this, he violently opened my door and turned my engine off and took my keys. Leaving my 2 young children and wife in our hot car. I rang 000 and notified them of the facts and that this was deprevation of liberty . I stated this to the officer and that he is unlawfully detaining me. He said he had every right. Was I wrong? Long story short aftet a polite conversation and when 2 of his mates turned up he backed off and became all friendly as he was about to issue me with a notice to appear because I refused, and also because I was obstructing a camera with my motor vehicle. I was not empowered enough with info to bluff him but I am back on the net getting more informed. Are they exempt from parking on footpaths? And did he have the right to take my keys? Did I have to supply my license even though I had committed no crime?
