Heres a great event for next week. A Beginner’s Guide to Family History How much information do you have on the history of your family? Would you like to find out more about your ancestors? If so, how would you set about doing this? The Western Family History Association invites all who are interested in making a start to an Open Afternoon in Lackagh Parish Centre on Saturday 23rd August next, from 2pm to 5.30pm. Members of the Association as well as representatives of the East Galway Family History Society and West Galway Family History Society will be on hand to assist you on getting started and to offer guidance on how to access and search for information on your ancestors. Family History records held in various archive collections will be discussed and the use of websites for tracing ancestors will be demonstrated. This event is being organised as part of National Heritage Week 23rd to 31st August 2014. Lackagh Parish Centre is located beside Lackagh Church on the N63 Galway to Roscommon road.
