Heres a link to a video for every Elvis Christmas song and others related to Christmas, such as his gospel performances. It is VERY WELL put together, entertaining as can be and really gives you a glimpse of what a wonderful human being he was...his generosity, etc. This was his favorite time of year just like it was my Dads. I have miserably failed since losing my Dad to allow myself to have a truly great Christmas. It has just never been the same since. My Dad WAS Christmas. While Im blogging here I think often about the types of things he did. Ive not really been in the financial position to do many of the things he did, but I dont think Im as caring of others as this man was. I guess growing up without a lot of money, and while my Dad wasnt rich by any means, I lacked for nothing as a child. Dad would find ONE person that he knew was having a hard time, typically an elderly widow without much family. He would go to the grocery store and buy $200 worth of groceries and show up unannounced....a complete stranger, a name he had gotten from my Grandma or her church. The look on the face of a person receiving a gift like that was unbelievable to see. He would be smiling so much because he WANTED to give. THAT is what Christmas is about my friends. Jesus has the ULTIMATE gift for us and He wants us to receive it. It has been said it feels better to give than to receive. That is true with ONE exception. There is NO BETTER feeling than to receive the gift of salvation by accepting Jesus Christ as ones Lord and Savior. OK Im through preaching now. It hits me occasionally. Im a walking contradiction, partly truth, partly fiction. Now useless Elvis information from my ADD riddled brain. He recorded two albums. Elvis Christmas Album in 1957 and Elvis Sings The Wonderful World Of Christmas released in 1971. In addition he recorded a Christmas single If Every Day Was Like Christmas in 1966. That is the song that starts this video. I enjoy the understated pedal steel of Pete Drake. In 1970, budget RCA offshoot Camden and later Pickwick re-released Elvis Christmas Album. It is the original 1957 album with the songs in a different order, removing the gospel songs and adding the single If Everyday Was Like Christmas and the leftover track from The 1969 Memphis Sessions, Mama Liked The Roses. Although not technically a Christmas song, like Haggards If We Make It Through December it is considered one. Enjoy the best of Elvis! Save this link and let this play while you put up the tree!
