Heres a little list I came up with on a walk today. Its the Top 10 Things I Need to Unlearn From Playing Computer Games. 10. When you go on vacation, theres no need to take any money with you. Youll be able to pick up all you need once you get there by doing odd jobs. -- Nancy Drew series. 9. Putting on armor makes you harder to hit but doesnt reduce the damage you take when you actually are hit. -- Dungeons & Dragons series 8. Its easy to juggle 20 items and fight a troll at the same time. -- Zork 1, but also pretty much any adventure game. 7. Any time you want to find someone, they can always be found loitering in the exact same spot, unless youve accidentally done something to advance the plot. -- Pretty much any adventure game. 6. No matter how desolate the location, in the jungle, the South Pole, or wherever, if you build a barracks, soldiers will come. -- Warcraft 2, Command and Conquer, or pretty much any Real Time Strategy Game 5. Now matter how badly youre hurt, theres nothing wrong with you that picking up a medikit wont cure. -- Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem, or pretty much any First Person shooter 4. Be bold. No matter how badly you screw up, you can always just restore. -- Pretty much any adventure game 3. Melee combats can be won through repartee alone. Don Rickles is probably the greatest swordsmen the world has ever known. -- The Secret of Monkey Island 2. Battlefields stay neat and tidy no matter how many people die on them. -- Any Real Time Strategy or wargame 1. You too can be Captain Kirk, but you may have to add a digit or two to the end of it. -- Star Trek Online
