Heres a little present to you for the holidays – a video - TopicsExpress

Heres a little present to you for the holidays – a video read-through of my book for you and your kids or grandkids. Im attaching the full version of my song, which became the childrens picture book, “I Want to Go to the Moon.” First, some background. A couple of years back, I had done a CD of kids songs for my family and friends as a Christmas gift, including a song that I wrote about a young boy determined to go to the moon despite all of the warnings from everyone else that it was not an attainable dream. I also gave a copy of the CD to Cynthia Nugent, a woman that I knew from the Vancouver Ukulele Circle. Little did I know at the time, but Cynthia is an award-winning childrens book illustrator. She emailed me the next day and said that she thought the lyrics of the song would work as a book. She directed me to look at her her online portfolio, and I was hugely impressed with her work as an illustrator – bright, colourful, fun, and whimsical. After doing some preliminary drawings, she approached a publisher, Simply Read Books, who also thought it would work as a book. After the book was released, my biggest reward was hearing many wonderful stories from friend and family, whose kids had added the book to their story-time favourites. Another great honour was having the book win the Chocolate Lily Award – voted the favourite BC Childrens Book of last year, as voted on by BC school children. A huge thanks goes out to my friend, Dan Ross, for producing the original track, which may not have gotten anyones attention, without his genius, spit and polish. The attached video-track features many of the pages from the book, along with a number of animations done by the talented Cynthia Nugent. The book is available online through Amazon and Chapters, and locally, the WR Museum still has some copies, as do I, if youd like me to scribble on it. And – the book comes with a CD of the song. Thank you, and Merry Christmas! vimeo/114505861
