Heres a little story about why I always try to be nice to people: Two months ago I complained to my dr. about an on-going issue with my foot, which was getting worse, so he said hed refer me to a specialist. A couple weeks ago, I got a letter informing me that my appointment with the specialist was scheduled for October 22nd. I was very pleased to have gotten an appointment so quickly. :) So today, Im up, showered, getting ready to head out, when the phone rings. Whod be calling me at 8 a.m? Alas, it was the doctors receptionist, informing me that shes home sick, and all appointments for the rest of this week are being cancelled. :( Furthermore, hes leaving the end of next week for a months vacation, so the next appointment she can give me is in December. :( Im thinking, Crap! But I said, Im so sorry youre not feeling well. Hope youll be better soon! There was a pause, then she said, Thank you so much! Youre the first person who hasnt been mad at me for cancelling. You wouldnt believe the things people have been saying to me this morning. I said, Well, its not your fault for being sick, youd think people would be more understanding. And then she said, You know what, you just made my day, so Im going to squeeze you in next Wednesday. I said, God love you! Thanks so much! And she said, No, God love YOU! And we both hung up our phones, feeling much better. :)
