Heres a long overdue update on Buddy... Hes back home, resting in - TopicsExpress

Heres a long overdue update on Buddy... Hes back home, resting in one of his favorite spots across from me in the living room, refer to him now as Spoiled-Rotten Dog. In a nutshell... Buddys walk is still unsteady, but certainly not as much as yesterday. Hes still rolling his eyes a little and a bit loopy, but again hes improved. Theyve sedated him, so hes groggy. I have a hunch hes in no hurry to chase a squirrel for the time being. The one concern is his appetite, he didnt eat. So I laid a couple of pieces of processed cheese slice next to him there on the couch. He sniffed & turned his nose, but 2 minutes later, ate them both. Well see how it goes. For the immediate future, the plan is him staying on the back porch with the door shut so he cant get out whenever Im away, otherwise hell be inside staying near me. I have his kennel cage and sleep pad set up with a horse blanket draped over it so its snug, dark & warm, my polonis ceramic heater is next to the cage in case it turns cold. The back porch has always been a no-guilt place to poop or pee. The vet says the ear treatment hes had is effective for 2 weeks, and it can take that long for the infection to clear up. However, at the rate of improvement hes already showing from yesterday, Buddys condition is very optimistic. However... hes been prescribed pills. One is motion sickness medicine, the other an antibiotic. Hes to take em twice a day. Problem is, hes baring teeth at any notion of giving him them. He definitely dont want any pills. Second, hes refusing food, so I cant try sneaking any ground up pills in his dinner. Im praying he gets hungry. BTW, thank you everyone for the kind encouraging comments. Im on truly an emotional roller coaster here, so I totally appreciate so much all the great feedback. Hes in no hurry to get off that couch, maybe in a while when he gets up, Ill try to get him to eat.
