Heres a longish interview with Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. Its well worth the time to read. Stevenson believes that, unlike other countries with a history of segregation and racial terror, the United States has never publicly accounted for the legacy of segregation and Jim Crow, which has allowed that legacy to warp our understanding of race and shape some of our society’s most powerful structures. And now he and EJI, which provides legal representation and advocates for cases involving unfair sentencing, wrongful convictions, and prisoner abuse, have taken on a new project to address this injustice. guernicamag/interviews/walking-with-the-wind/
