Heres a message from the Board of The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte! We are working hard, and logging countless hours behind the scenes brainstorming, networking, and making tough decisions. We are, for all practical purposes, starting over. We recognize that the needs of our community, and the services that we can provide, are different that those provided at other centers across the nation. Many of those services, like HIV/AIDS services and LGBTQ youth programming, are already provided in our community by talented and dedicated organizations like RAIN and Time Out Youth. So we are working with our advisors, and you, our community, to find our place in the world. We are making difficult, fiscally responsible, and vision driven decisions that in the long run will secure the existence of The Center for years to come. I am proud to serve on this board. We have our struggles, and who doesnt? We all have recognized that this is a mission, not a hobby. What we are working for is larger than any one member of the board or member of the community. It is an uphill climb and we are ready for it! Please join us on the hike, because its going to be a beautiful journey!
