Heres a mostly silent video tour of our VBS crafts room when the decorations are still new and unruffled by the multitude of elementary children who will be in and out of this room over the next five days. The 2014 VBS theme is Weird Animals but we are decorating the craft room with more of a #1 Hope Street kind of theme. Their bedrooms are very brightly colored and some are decorated with flip flops! We strung a clothes line around the room and hung colorful tissue paper flowers, flip flops (which will be donated to the orphanage), dress-up hats and other colorful stuff. We created an ocean full of fish along the back wall. Nearly everything is held together or hung up with clothes pins. All of these decorations were either donated from another church, scavenged from our left over decorations from other years, or brought from home (only bandanas and a few of the hats). The only thing we bought for decorating was $7 for flip flops and $12 for a roll of table covering plastic. We worked hard to make do with what we had because we know thats what Jan has to do a lot at the orphanage in Haiti. We hope to post more pictures and videos this week! The slight bit of chatter was Cheryl reminding me to sure to show the pictures we hung on the back of the pillars of Jan and her kids Amanda, Shelby and Jake from when they first went to Haiti! Thank you to Hope Covenant church in El Dorado for donating the decorations from your VBS week!!!
