Heres a new post from the KPL Bookaneers! Weedflower by Cynthia Kadohata Place this book on hold here. Do you like historical fiction? Is World War 2 an interesting topic for you? If so, Weedflower may be just the book for you. Sumiko used to think her life was pretty great. She was raised on a flower farm. The hardest part of her day was being the only Japanese girl in her class. All of a sudden, her life changes after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. With little notice, people begin distrusting the Japanese and Sumiko and her family are shipped off to an internment camp just in case they might be spies. No longer is she surrounded by flowers, instead she is surrounded by dust as this internment camp is on an Indian reservation and the Native Americans are not happy to have their land invaded once again. Things begin to change when she meets a young Mohave boy who could just end up being a real friend, if only he weren’t so angry about his land being invaded.
