Heres a new video of Rumanian thereminist, Benedict Popescu, - TopicsExpress

Heres a new video of Rumanian thereminist, Benedict Popescu, busking in the streets of Ljubljana. Notice, this is a left-handed instrument and pitch is played vertically (which must be very tiring for the pitch arm). Vibrato is electronically added and is not dependent on the player. If it were, I dont think the vertical movement necessary to do it would be sustainable for any more than a minute or two before your pitch arm fell off! The volume antenna operates in reverse - the farther away you move your volume hand, the lower the volume. The poster of this video mentions in the info box that the Tornados 1962 hit TELSTAR was played on a theremin. It wasnt. The TELSTAR melody was played on a Clavioline (a keyboard predecessor of the analog synthesizer). For many people, however, theremin is not a musical instrument. It is any sound that they find reminiscent of the soundtracks of 50s SciFi and horror films. https://youtube/watch?v=g19Pjaca3Xo
