The Arc of Frederick County provides advocacy, access to resources and assistance in increasing individual and family connections for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families by offering person-directed community supports. Supports vary depending on individual goals and can include independent living, employment, educational advocacy, community outreach, accessing higher education, among others. Person-directed services allow individuals and families to hire their own staff, purchase needed adaptive equipment and medical supplies, and help people have greater access to the community. The Arc of Frederick County serves more than 600 people each year through a variety of individualized services.
