Heres a running Facebook conversation Im having with OMPA about Yales electrical billing. Seems that they dont know how to figure the bills either! All we seem to have is ENCODE software that is too complex for our little town to use. ME:Can you tell me what the power factor adjustment was for the period of 1-21-14 to 2-21-14? Im trying to figure out how to figure my bill. OMPA: You will have to contact your municipally owned electric system to have them explain the bill. We are simply our member cities wholesale power supplier. They handle all of the billing to their customers. So power factor adjustments vary since each city sets their own rates. Hope this helps. ME: OK. I understood this was a surcharge added to the wholesale bill to offset increased cost of energy when fuel prices took unusual rises. 3 hours ago OMPA: It is a pass-through cost that our cities pass on to their customers when prices fluctuate. The wholesale bill is billed directly to each city. The cities are then responsible for setting their own rates and billing their customers. As far as the amount you are seeing on your bill for the PFA i would contact your city for the actual figure. ME: Can you tell me what it was for the month of February? OMPA: Which city are you a customer of? 37 minutes ago ME: Yale. Ive contacted the city. What I want to know is how much they passed through to MPA. The PFA s not posted on our bills. All we get is a usage and a price. OMPA: We do not have each of our citys PFA. We have a fuel cost that we bill to our cities but Yale also receives hydro allocation. We do not have access to those records. Each city has a different PFA. If you want to know the specific PFA you wold need to contact the City of Yale as we do not have access to our cities PFA records
