Heres a slightly convoluted analogy for those who cant get their heads around the current nursing shortage. Imagine if your favourite football team only fielded five players and were beaten thirty-nil. Then the media went into overdrive saying that those five players didnt care about winning and needed more training. The club management responds by saying that five players should have been enough and its not their fault because the FA doesnt give them enough money. The FA replies that theyve given the club enough money and, by the way, isnt it terrible that those five players didnt care about winning and shouldnt they have more training. In the middle of all this are the fans who have a terrible time and lash out at the players even though its not their fault. The players feel guilty that the fans are suffering, but what could they do? Theres only five of them.
