Heres a sneak peek into one of the bills Im working on - I believe the appointed members of the State Department of Education Board should first have to be confirmed by the Senate before being appointed by the Governor. They should also be subject to recall with a two-thirds vote of the Senate, should they fail to represent the values of the majority of Arizonans. For example, these unelected bureaucrats voted in Common Core for Arizona when we clearly think it should be locally controlled. We have no recourse and it will take a majority to overturn it. The superintendent of public schools (Dianne Douglas) cannot single-handedly overturn Common Core. We need to make sure that the members of this board are held accountable and subject to the people. This is one way that we can do this. I will appreciate your support in getting this bill across the finish line.
