Heres a story I would like to share with you all (which a friend shared with me) that shows the blessing of Qadhi Iyadhs book ash-Shifā: Jazāka-llāhu Khayr for all your Duās, my cousin wasnt in good state when I first saw him in hospital and today hes able to sit up al-Hamdu li-llāh. When family (friends) are poorly, if I am able, I always try to gift a copy of Qādhī Iyads as-shifa and recite a little. It was the practice of those in Morocco to recite upon the ill. I began reciting it last week and left a bookmark hoping that when I returned Ill continue, thinking nobody else would; as they do not like to complicate Islām with Taṣawwuf (Spirituality) or superfluous love. I was shocked upon getting a call from my cousin this morning and he mentioned that every day someone would read it (apparently after my aunt mentioned that I started reading it to him) and he could recall a bit while he was in and out (conscious). My cousin said: They completed the text last night. My father read the last few pages. In tears, he said: I had a beautiful dream last night, something I didnt ever believe in or thought could ever happen. He made a beautiful Duāʾ and asked me to mention all of you by name, one by one, of those I asked to pray for him, so he could repeat it.
