Heres a subject for debate. And in advance yes Im biased kinda.... So I am my sisters responsible party. She was born with a birth defect and shes a bit challenged life and learning doesnt come easy for her. I try my best to field as much as I can but she doesnt live with me so I dont catch it all. She had a yearly review of a state service in which she gets benefits from. I am over doing paperwork for her and we are discussing it. This is a benefit she got well before I had taken over years ago taking care of her matters like this. So Im looking at the paperwork asking questions. Why I didnt ask any year before Im not sure. Anyway she failed to mention to these people she has bills she pays. So that means she could get FAR more help than she does. She cannot drive. She cannot work like we do or she would proudly. So in cases where someone is doing all they can and there is a service that can help them then yes Im all for it. Anyway. She does a phone interview yearly and I do know shes been taken for a in office interview by her personal assistant before. But Im sitting here thinking ok. She goes in or even during phone interview. This person knows shes challenged with her learning. And they fail to try to make her understand any question about where her money goes. She isnt stupid. She sat here and told me the correct answer that was exactly what they should have asked her the same I did. Im really not understanding how a person can be dealing with a individual and interviewing them about their income to qualify them for a state benefit and fail to find out she pays rent, elect, water etc....... I mean really they know shes on another level. And yet this critical piece of information just keeps getting over looked! So I guess my question is am I expecting too much because I do have a personal involvement with her and maybe Im looking at this in a biased way? If someones job is to do a income and expenses based interview and the person you are interviewing is handicapped would you not make sure you try extra hard to be certain they understand what you are asking. Especially if someone lives alone with their significant other and their significant other had a disability as well. Most people know what they get is barely enough to pay all the bills so based upon the fact they know what her boyfriend makes too is it not common sense that joann contributes to the bills? Yes I am going to handle this now that Im aware of the mistake. :(
