Heres a very interesting, controversial one. The writer wants to talk about the production team, the commissioners and the management behind the new ITV2 series Dapper Laughs: On The Pull. The runners are the only people Ill turn a blind eye to. The truth is, the rest of you are old enough to know better. You have basically helped create a rapists’ almanac. Sure you havent told people how to come equipped with rope or chloroform - but you have contributed to a prevalent predatory culture that reduces women to nothing more than a piece of cunt. Thats an ugly turn of phrase but thats exactly what youve done. Whether the IT guy was included in the accused, Im not sure. But Ive left ITV now so I guess Im in the clear, and I had no first hand knowledge of this show. Its just interesting, having dissed a lot of big companies, reading someone else have a pop at yours or your ex (I still feel loyalty to ITV, well the Yorkshire section anyway). As for the points raised: I like the writers punchy style and how towards the end he admits hes been deliberately confrontational. He feels passionately that this type of comedy is outdated, misogynistic and immoral. The motivations of those who allow this to happen are probably similar to those of the employees of the energy companies - you just go to work, get on with your job and are almost programmed into not thinking too deeply about exactly what is youre doing. One example from personal experience, just a couple of weeks ago, I fixed the computer of a lady at work who was working on some Carry On documentary, you know 100 Best Moments Of Kenneth Williams Going Ooh Matron or something! Anyways, I chatted to her about the Carry Ons and she said actually I dont really approve of them, as a feminist I have reservations about their portrayal of women and yet she was just getting on with the job (or trying to, if only her bloody Mac wouldnt keep locking her out of her work!). So thats what allows this kind of stuff to slip through the corporate net. Not malice or immorality, just this weird sort of disconnect between us getting on with our jobs and the effects of the work we do. Sometimes you just need a bit of a jolt to wake you up and remind you of the consequences of your actions, and that goes for companies as well as individuals. ITV - sort out your output FFS. Apart from Emmerdale, thats epic :-) chortle.co.uk/correspondents/2014/10/08/21082/youve_helped_create_a_rapists_almanac
