Heres an encouraging testimony. Tonight, in Des Moines, Iowa, Im speaking on Can You Be Gay and Christian?, with an open mic Q&A to follow. Well, this morning, when I got up, there was an email from a grad who had been awakened to pray at 4:00 AM -- she had no idea about tonight -- and was praying for the harvest in another part of the country. She wrote: No need to give u all the details of my prayers but strongly felt to press in for the gay community to be saved. When I arrived at the church service to preach this morning (the same church where Ill be speaking tonight), there were a few young men outside the building holding up signs against the gospel of hate, so I spent a few minutes talking to them and reaching out in love. (It was sad to hear the standard talking points with no ability to interact based on facts and truth.) Folks from the church went outside to bring them donuts and water, and the three young men came into the service during worship and sat on the front, middle row for about 15 minutes before leaving. Suddenly, I was reminded of the words of this grad who had been praying for the gay community to be saved, and it struck me: These three young men sitting on the front are a sign of the incoming harvest! We must prepare our congregations to receive them with love and truth!
