Heres an excellent YT discussion on the future of Spider-Man on film, by the guys at Geekvolution... I dont agree with everything, of course, lol. For what its worth, heres the comment I posted: ^_^ Im so glad Dan liked Amazing Spider-Man 2. Id heard so many people knocking it, that I put off watching until recently on DVD. I thought it was quite amazing and wonderful -- virtually flawless. I dont understand what so many people were whinning about... too much romance, too much humor, to many villains... What do ya want in a blockbuster Spidey film?! I thought Garfield was excellent, catching Peters renown pathos and quips; obvious chemistry between him and Emma Stone. While as a long time reader, I prefer the classic origin as in the first Raimi film -- sans the organic webshooters, which imo take away from Parkers intelligent creative skills. But this revised origin, which I think echoes the Ultimates Universe?, was very well done; bringing many elements together. I do prefer Spideys parents just being average folks (I think in some versions they were agents of SHIELD... yeesh), but via the DNA element only Peter would have been affected by the spider bite. I was rather flummoxed by people dissing the poor pacing, so I did a chart on a legal pad -- as Im a writer -- and saw how the plot fit together quite coherenty; presenting and juggling all the characters, in an ascending tension and increasing action. Yeah, there are a couple things I could nitpick about, but Ive rambled on too long here, lol. I obviously hope theres a well-deserved sequel.
