Heres an extensive and exclusive review about Chronicles of Urban Nomads by my grandfather, Srinivasan, retired deputy registrar, High court of Madras. Hope this is useful to all the authors as well as the readers. The book is divided into two sections, Imagine and Musings. Heres a review of the Imagine section. Imagine: 1) Confessions of a Benarasi Sari by Ayan Pal: The disappointed and dejected bride and the groom after getting together after the passing away of their parents with no elders intervention through the biographical media of a benarasi sari, so quite marvellous, touching and well-rendered. 2) The Blue Slippers by Kirthi Jayakumar: The recollections of school days affinity and friendship with a less-privileged classmate and the overall blood spilling and civilians death between two warring groups, so well-depicted in picturesque detail. 3) The Wait by Ashay Abbhi: A farmers pathetic plight of loneliness - seeking mercy - Last bid of yearning at closing of his eyes - so awe-inspiring and pulsating indeed. 4) My Soulmate by Janneker Lawrence: Deprived of advice of a best friend - Kumar becomes a victim of circumstances - placing of bombs at different places with change of mind - by conscience dictate - removing all but one to avoid mass of innocent civilians extinct - A mad mans aspiration for foreign degree at all cost - A sudden change of course - Authentically well focused with authors competence. 5) The Masterpiece by Rounak R Nayak Ayan and Sakshis love blossomed at shedding tears at the last moment of his life, so well in full breath - expounded by the concluding passage - The abstracts perception of hubby in her son - Most touching at depth of heart - Masterpiece really goes to the authors credit. 6) A Vicious Battle by Aravind Sampath Despite break of love between Neha and KK, and her pleading on other mater on behalf of her brother, Ashish, being bluntly refused by KK and a shock wave at the end - in all surprise - really deserves its wholesome praise. 7) An Engagement Ring by Purnima Verma The autobiographical narrative of the engagement ring between two lovers - the pathetic end of climax of unfulfilled wedding knot, leaves with tears of broken heart - exemplified exquisitely. 8) A Little Nugget of Fear by Deepti Menon Preferring a male child only - A gender issue before the couple - Culminating in traditional domestic circle - based on ominous words of an astrologer leading to a catastrophic end of watery grave dwelt in a par excellence manner. 9) EFIL by Bhaswar Mukherjee Minor pangs of guilty wife - Heros resorting to adventurous risk of climbing atop so high and falling down with miraculous escape. His languishing, pent up feelings of distrust over his wife and associate - while hand in hand with his son, Bittu - in the wonderful open air and taste of freedom - and the words of expression in the middle of the story Alive and dead - in discrete packets - In reality it is all a continuum really scores a tinge of philosophy. - V. Srinivasan. An extensive review of the Musings section would be dealt in the next post.
