Heres an interesting study. Among other things. it finds that the majority of men seeking help in a domestic violence situation found the resources unhelpful, and that over 40% of them actually were accused of being the batterer themselves when they sought help. It should be noted that the number of men who experience domestic battery is much smaller than the number of women, but one thing suggested by this study is perhaps the difficulty women often experience in getting people to take them seriously when they are the victims is not solely based in a societal bias against womens concerns, but may in larger part be due to a societal unwillingness to acknowledge domestic violence at all.
