Heres an unmentioned postscript to this mornings post about the man who suffered a seizure down the street from our home - the gentleman (Eric) is a black male walking in a predominately white neighborhood. Everyone who stopped to help Eric was white. A white man man cradled Eric in his arms, another wiped the sweat from his face with a towel after the convulsions. A white woman called 911 and spoke soothingly to him. Three others talked to him and reassured him help was on the way. I only mention this because so often the media & certain politicians are obsessed with race and would have us believe racism is overwhelmingly prevalent in the U.S. I beg to differ. Racism is used for personal gain, political purposes, and/or self serving interests. The overwhelming majority of Americans are not racist as proven by todays event. Yes, there are idiots who cling to ignorance but they are in the distinct minority. You cant fix stupid, but lets stop sensationalizing a falsity for ulterior motives. None of us who stopped to help Eric gave a rats behind that he was a black man. The only thing on our minds was helping another human being who needed help. OK, end of rant.
