Heres an update from Matt about whats been going on in his wine world recently: "Since vintage ended we have been busy in the winery getting our white wines ready for bottling, with filtration occurring on the Pinot Rose and Alchemy Ice. The Riesling and pinot gris are spending time on lees in tank to flesh them out and the pinot noir is undergoing malolactic fermentation. The wines from the 2013 vintage are looking great - fruit is consistently bright, concentrated and beautifully expressive. I am particularly excited about the richness and vibrancy of the wines. The base wines for our sparkling programme will be blended on the 7th june for tirage later in the year and all the white wines apart from chardonnay are scheduled for bottling in late August. The barrel fermented chardonnay is bottled in Feburary. Other than the winery I have been busy visiting customers in Auckland and also did a couple of great winemakers dinners, pitching wine against beer is always an interesting concept! A highlight last month was taking one of our very supportive customers, Luke Dallow (owner of Chapel Bar in Ponsonby) deer shooting for a few days in the mountains. It was right when the big snow hit too so it made for a really memorable trip.
