Heres an update from the Massachusetts State Police regarding the road conditions: Southeastern, MA: Stations report snow and heavy winds. Mass DOT is maintaining the roadways. SP-Bourne reporting the ramp from Rt 25 westbound to Exit 3 Bourne is closed for a jack-knifed tractor-trailer unit. Two other vehicles are in the snowbank behind the TT. Several minor spinouts and cars off the road. SP-Nantucket reporting problems with cell phone and landline service on parts of the island. In remainder of troop patrols continue to respond to minor spinouts and cars off the road. Northeastern MA No changes from last report save for a slight increase in traffic. All stations report heavy snow, poor visibility, and snow covered roads. MSP and National Guard assisted local authorities with evacuation of homes on Elm Street in Ipswich due to flooding. Western MA No changes since last update. Stations reporting moderate snow with several inches accumulation along I-91 corridor. Roads slightly snow covered with snow removal efforts in full force throughout western Mass. Traffic appears to be flowing normally at somewhat reduced speeds. No backups reported or viewed via Mass Hwy monitoring system. No road closures of note. No reported power outages or downed trees. Central MA No changes from last update. Patrols reporting heavy accumulation in Westborough area, particularly Route 9. Traffic is still very light and snow drifts are creating complications in most ramp complexes throughout Troop C. No power outages or significant events to report at this time. Mass. Turnpike/Tunnels Patrols continue to respond to skidding crashes, all with minor property damage and no injury. Roadway is snow covered. Plows are active throughout Rte 90. Blizzard conditions persist. Airport/Seaport Heavy snow continues. No flights at Logan, Worcester, Hanscom airports. Wind picking up at Logan. Heavy snow and light traffic in Seaport. Heavy snow at Conley Terminal. Metro Boston Troop H area patrols advise heavy snow fall with high winds at this time. Roadways are primarily snow covered. Quincy Shore Dr. inbound between Furnace Brook Pkwy. and Fenno St. is closed due to flooding. Morrissey Blvd. in both directions between Freeport St. and U Mass Boston is closed due to flooding. (Please note Morrissey remains closed in that area; did not open as previously thought). MassDOT and DCR have plows out clearing the roadways. Traffic volume is extremely light throughout the troop.
