Heres an update on my Singer 247C. I worked on it all day today and managed to get it to sew toilet paper again and this time without skipping stitches. I still have the occasional skip stitches sewing flannel but at least now I can sew more than just toilet paper. It wont do cotton, polyester or anything smooth. Just in case you want to know, I did try different needles (sizes and types) with various fabrics and threads. So far I havent found a perfect combination. Any average sewing machines should be able to handle cotton and polyester so this one has a long way to go. For now I will have to designate this machine for toilet paper. :-D
