Heres another of my Golden Oldies, a 1/21 scale Renault - TopicsExpress

Heres another of my Golden Oldies, a 1/21 scale Renault FT-17…… and its scratch built entirely from aluminium sheet metal, copper wire and steel from a beer can, no kit parts. Its 1972, I was a 17 year old kid with very little money and armed with only a few hand tools, some scrap and a set of plans in a magazine. From memory it took 18 months, the turret and gun are movable as well as having fully articulated tracks and suspension. The front idler wheel is adjustable to tension the tracks using a little hand made spanner. 6 hour Araldite was used to bond all the parts together, the 5 minute stuff and super glue werent marketed yet. Its hand painted in Humbrol enamels. Twenty years later it was entered in the Interclub and won its category. The judges had a meeting to decide if it was eligible to enter seeing how it wasnt plastic. The paint and weathering look a bit rough by todays standards but I wouldnt change a thing on it. I still wonder at how I made it.
