Heres another reason we need representation. Our flight yesterday - TopicsExpress

Heres another reason we need representation. Our flight yesterday from NRT to HNL that was scheduled to depart at 9pm returned to the gate for a mechanical. We spent over 3 hours with the passengers on board the aircraft. We kept them comfortable by serving them snacks and beverages. Once we missed the airport curfew, it was announced that the flight was cancelled. It was going to take some time to get hotel rooms and immigration and customs ready so as a crew we decided to serve the passengers their meals while they waited on the plane. I am so thankful for my crew for their hard work and dedication to take care of our passengers. We finally left the aircraft at 11:45pm and arrived at our hotel well after midnight and found out that our flight will be going out at 11:45am. We made our pickup at 10:17am and departed NRT at 12noon for a 7 hour flight to HNL. The flight back home was very bumpy, but we made it through without a hitch. I cant tell you how proud IAM of my crew. Seeing the passengers deplaning and smiling and thanking us for a wonderful flight just reaffirms that we did our job right. It was a very long and trying trip for the passengers as you can imagine. Long story short, we blocked in 12:15am on September 25th and was released at 12:30am. Five of us are due to fly back to NRT this same morning. Rest at domicile is 11 hours, but can be reduced to 9 hours due to a delay. Our report time is 9:45am so we just barely made the legality. IAM sure I speak for the five of us that have to turn around and go back to NRT that we are tired and did not get enough sleep. How safe will our flight be when almost half of the crew are physically and mentally drained. To make matters worse, it looks like I will get escalated to purser A. I and my crew will do our best as we always do to make the flight safe and comfortable for our customers. I just hope people realize that at times like these, we need someone to look out for our health and safety also. IAM sure this is not a rare event. Unfortunately it happens way too often. Please sign or resign a card so that EVERYONE can be protected.
