Heres how crazy model madness can get for a forecaster folks! All - TopicsExpress

Heres how crazy model madness can get for a forecaster folks! All three of these models are relatively current, yet they are so far off from each other it makes my Meteorological head spin. So whats my forecast? I have been trying to dig through all of the temperature models to see what the 500 and 700mb would do, and I like what I see there. I do think that the one aspect of this storm which the models always have difficulty with is the mesoscale banding. We all remember what the banding features did for the blizzard a few years ago, and I honestly think well see several more inches wherever things set up shop this time around. Where will it go? I was thinking somewhere up along far Western CT and far Eastern NY. The latest model runs are indicating a shift Eastward perhaps, but well have to wait until the storm begins to see for certain. I still believe most of SNE is in for 1-2ft of snow from West to East, and as evidence by the model agreement far East, there should be several spots over 2ft on the Eastern seaboard. As this storm intensifies into early Tuesday, the wind machine is going to crank up nicely, so be prepared for significant blowing and drifting and tough travel all day Tuesday - stay home if you can!
