Heres my first controversial statement of the day....I dont think the argument that if you restrict legal channels for purchasing guns then youre only penalizing law-abiding citizens holds water. Why? Well, first the reason this argument is usually made is because people assume that criminals are getting their guns solely on the black market and theyll continue to have these resources even after restrictions are tightened on lawful means of obtaining guns. However, I think this assumption ignores the total line of where the gun comes from. That gun was legally obtained by a malicious person for resale to criminals somewhere down the line. Some supplier or gun buyer was skirting the law and this profiteer is the least looked at person when it comes to legislation. We try to stop the criminals from getting guns and we try to stop gun sellers from selling guns, but no one ever talks about that douchebag who is a lawful gun purchaser who goes to gun shows and other places to specifically find guns to resale to criminals.
