Heres my late weather update….Ive posted 2 maps from NWS OKC and these looks pretty reasonable. The first map shows precipitation type overnight and the second map shows potential snowfall Saturday. As I write this the center of the upper storm system is over southeastern New Mexico where its snowing! Confidence remains high that this storm system will move northeast across northwestern Oklahoma Saturday and then continue northeast to near Kansas City by Saturday night. The exact track is very important since the sensible weather we get is directly related to its exact path. As Ive probably stated many many times the heaviest snow almost always falls to the north of the track of the upper low. Also, on the south side a dry slot will come around quickly and cut off significant precip before sunrise in central Oklahoma. Tonight- Rain and maybe some embedded lightning and thunder will continue for several more hours with temps holding steady above freezing central / eastern Oklahoma. In western Oklahoma there are pockets of temps near or just below freezing so some freezing rain / sleet next several hours. The precipitation will cut off from southwest to northeast by morning with temps staying above freezing in OKC and Tulsa. Roads just wet OKC and Tulsa! Some icy conditions possible in western Oklahoma. Saturday-Is a cloudy gray day central / eastern Oklahoma with areas of drizzle and a few showers with temps mid to upper 30s to near 40 degrees. A few bands of snow associated with the upper low will track across the Panhandles northeast across far northwestern / northern Oklahoma up into Kansas. 1 to 4 of snow is possible far NW and N OK. No snow OKC or Tulsa. Saturday night / Sunday- Another shot of cold air drops south behind the storm system. Strong north winds will over take Oklahoma again with windy, cold and dry conditions! Have a great night and be safe!
