Heres my rant today: Dear President Obama, Steve Israel DCCC - TopicsExpress

Heres my rant today: Dear President Obama, Steve Israel DCCC chairman, et. al. who keep emailing me asking for contributions. Heres why you are not hearing back from me: In 2008 I walked the streets for your campaign. I believed in your message. I took my small children and went door-to-door. I spoke of hope. I had hope. I registered felons and I loved it. Since that time, I have spent all of my energy working on public education issues which really cross over to environment, human rights, healthcare, and even foreign policy: its about corporate control and privatization. At the head of this attack in education is your administration and policies. The 1% have bought you out as far as I can tell and I wont spend any more of my time or money on furthering their cause. When Jeb Bush and ALEC politicians are enamored of your education policy and Arne Duncan, then you know there is something very wrong. If that litmus test doesnt work, ask a whole bunch of public school teachers. Ask parents about how their children are being tested to death. Ask communities about the division and discord that your embracing of school choice and charters has cost neighbors, not to mention the funding it has cost the public schools themselves. Youve turned education dollars and help for children into some kind of draconian race to the top which means that there are six year-olds out there who are LOSERS in this race. Sometimes competition and cost-benefit analysis is INAPPROPRIATE. Sometimes a country as obscenely wealthy as ours should look at certain things as RIGHTS. All children should have the right to a high quality, free, fully-funded, democratically-controlled (hell-o DETROIT) public education. Your policies run contrary to this end I see that there is still hope here in my state in local races. That is where my money will go. That is where my time will go. So while our federal Republicans are obscene in the way that they block any good measures you do try to make at the federal level, I have lost hope that you would change some of this corporate-interest driven policy. Im acting locally and thinking globally. So stop asking me to fund you. I would help Elizabeth Warren. I would help Bernie Sanders. But I wont give a blank check to your party. Im about the candidate, not the symbol. Please take me off of your list. Most sincerely, Cathy Fuentes-Rohwer chairperson of the Indiana Coalition for Public Education of Monroe County
