Heres my story and Im stickin to it. A couple of days ago, Beth Brown posted a photo of a little black dog in a shelter in Texas. There was nothing special looking about him, other than he had bright eyes and there were so many people trying to find him a home. Honestly, with my 4, the only time I thought about another dog was when met a little Frenchie outside of a restaurant about a month ago. After reading about their health issues, I scratched that idea. Anyway, as usual, I just continued on my way posting on FB. However, this little black pup just wouldt leave my mind. I even dreamed about him. I do love my chiweenies. You cannot interact with them and not fall hopelessly in love. They are that cute and sweet. My corgis are wonderful, but they arent for everybody. They can be very stubborn and strong willed like other herding breeds. Anyway, I talked to the shelter coordinator to get more information about him. She said shed have to pull his paperwork, but she knew the dog very well and said everyone really loved this little guy. Im guessing since he was just another little black dog, he didnt have the appeal that many other dogs there did. Fortunately, I love black dogs, so that wasnt a problem at all. They were willing to have him neutered, shots and whatever he needed for $25.00 (amazing) and that they could arrange transport for him to Maryland. Actually, the closest they could get was Alexandria, VA. That is a pain in the ass due to the traffic on the Washington beltway (horrendous). I knew this could be a deal breaker, for I cant do that one alone. So, I finally got Will on the phone. He is in Kentucky at a car show. I figured hed just say no. I told him the dogs story and how so many were trying to save him. He astonished me when he said it was up to me. Well, needless to say, that was a green light. I knew this guy was supposed to wind up here after I dreamed about him. I didnt push. Not at all. I just plead his case. So, looks like we will be acquiring Rio in about 2 weeks. Sometimes, its just meant to be. Jill, you will be pleased to know that I rescued a dog from a shelter.
