Heres one of my MOST favorite Christmas songs - Still, Still, - TopicsExpress

Heres one of my MOST favorite Christmas songs - Still, Still, Still. It would be hard to narrow the list down to my single favorite song of the season, but if I had to do that, this one would be in the running. This song is very special to me, not only because of its beauty and meaning, but also because my first home church (Crossgates UMC) was such a huge part of my life, and because I grew up hearing this song performed every year at our churchs annual Hanging of the Greens service, with my mom and so many of our close friends singing it as members of the choir. Of all of the wonderful memories that I have from my time growing up in that church, hearing this song performed every Christmas (while the sanctuary lights were gradually dimmed) will always be one of my favorites. At first listen, it may seem that the song is only about stillness and sleep (which can certainly be sources of joy themselves), but the lyrics actually celebrate far more than that. Like all great Christmas songs, this one points people to Jesus, and reminds us of the incomparable joy that is available to each of us through the promised Messiah who was born on earth that first Christmas night. To help you grasp the full meaning of this quiet song, here are the lyrics: Still, still, still, One can hear the falling snow. For all is hushed, The world is sleeping, Holy Star its vigil keeping. Still, still, still, One can hear the falling snow. Sleep, sleep, sleep, Tis the eve of our Saviours birth. The night is peaceful all around you, Close your eyes, Let sleep surround you. Sleep, sleep, sleep, Tis the eve of our Saviours birth. Dream, dream, dream, Of the joyous day to come. While guardian angels without number, Watch you as you sweetly slumber. Dream, dream, dream, Of the joyous day to come. So, enjoy this beautiful recording of this classic Christmas song (The track is only three minutes long, but whoever downloaded this included some unnecessary space at the end of the video.). I hope its a blessing to you! https://youtube/watch?v=0csGr_krOX8
