Heres our tip when looking at public real estate sites like Trulia - TopicsExpress

Heres our tip when looking at public real estate sites like Trulia or Zillow. There are hundreds of public sites out there which are supplied property information by the Multiple Listing Service. The problem is, these sites are not always updated in a timely manner so you might see listings which have been sold months, or even years ago. Heres how you can tell if you are looking at an old listing: Scroll down until you find the MLS number. The MLS number is always 9 digits and the first two numbers indicate the year of the listing; the rest of the number is the sequential number of that listing. There are about 5000 new listing inputs every month in San Diego. So if you see a property posting and the MLS number is, for example, 120030125, this property was listed around June, 2012 and is probably long gone by now! Of course, to get the most accurate property information, were always here to help. Happy hunting!
