Heres our update from the just-concluded press conference in #KualaLumpur on Malaysia Airlines flight #MH17 in Eastern #Ukraine, where Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak delivered a short statement without answering any questions: - The airspace the aircraft was traversing was not subject to restrictions. - The airline confirmed also that no distress call was made from the plane. - MAS is in the process of notifying the next-of-kin of all passengers and crew, pledging that all possible care will be provided to them. - Malaysias government is also sending an aircraft with emergency rescue and medical personnel to the crash site to provide assistance on the ground. - If it transpires that the plane was indeed shot down, we insist that the perpetrators must swiftly be brought to justice. - Malaysian officials are invited to participate in the investigation launched by Ukrainian and Dutch Prime Ministers. - Having spoken to US President Barack Obama, PM Najib said they both agree that no one must interfere with the crash site or move any debris, including the black box from the plane. - Today, regardless of nationality, we are all united in grief, he concluded.
