Heres some photos of my mare Emily who passed out of form this morning at close to 33 yo. They were taken at her retirement home 2 years ago. I rescued Em from a not great situation in 1994 knowing she had severe navicular disease. She was only rideable for 1 year after she came to our family, but none the less was a treasured family member and boss mareat our place for close to 14 years until we sold our ranch in 2009. She had a great life with Lalli & Selur, her Icelandic boys and must have had some pretty awesome karma to have ended up retired at a friends horse paradise in Arroyo Grande close to where she was born. Em lived life on her terms always stating her needs loudly and clearly right to the very end letting my friend Anita know it was time for her to be released from form. Many thanks to Anita Parra for caring for Em as her own. Run free Em...hope to see you again soon.
