Heres someone else you might be interested in. Gary Kelley and I have been going nuts for this guys work for years now. Evsei Evseevich Moiseenko was born in Uvarovichi in the Gomel Region of Belorussia in 1916. He studied at the Kalinin Arts and Crafts Tekhnikum in Moscow from 1931 to 1935 and at the famous Repin Institute in Leningrad from 1936 to 1947. Moiseenko was one of the most acclaimed artists of the Soviet Period. He became a Soviet Academician in 1973 and a People′s Artist of the USSR, the two highest possible honors given to a Soviet artist and reserved for a very small, elite group of painters. He participated in many exhibitions including: All–Union Exhibition, Moscow, 1950, 1955; Soviet–Russia Exhibition, Moscow, 1960. His well–known works include: The First Cavalry Army, 1957, Sumy Art Museum; Volunteers, 1959, Russian State Museum; The Reds Have Arrived, 1961, Russian State Museum; Mothers and Sisters, 1967, Tretyakov Gallery. Moiseenko was an esteemed professor at the Repin Institute from 1958 to his death in 1988. He is listed and featured in most publications on Soviet Art as well as in Matthew Bown′s, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters.
