The thriller writress Patricia Highsmith meets the inscrutable Viggo Mortensen: it happens in the movie The Two Faces of January, in theaters from October 9th. The screenwriter of Drive Hossein Amini has chosen this novel not much known of The Talented Mr. Ripley author for his debut as a director, and turned it into a psychological thriller, a lot glossy but full of tension, interpreted not only by Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac, the protagonist of the last movie of coen Brothers, Inside Llewyn Davis. The movie is set in Greece in 1962, where the apparent perfection of the life of an American businessman and his young wife is slowly shattered: he involves in the concealment of a corpse an young Greek man who works as a tourist guide, and from that moment the life of the three is linked by an intricate grid of suspects, escapes, chases, from Greece to Turkey. And the movie turns into a challenge with strokes of cunning between the two men. And as Patricia Highsmith made human the flaws and contradictions of her characters, so Amini has managed to turn them on the screen in colorful characters, and giving life to an intriguing psychological battle among them.
