Thank you for your prayers that God has so generously answered by freeing our last three girls! Although I find it hard to justify being arrested and in jail for 22 days and our 31 kids detained and traumatized for up to two months we are thrilled all but one is free. As we and our kids try to understand this episode defined as being rescued, we hope to provide the same love, education, and needs we have been for the past 13 years. To protect us from further harassment and illegal arrests and detainment we have retained the services of a respected law firm in Manila to defend and represent our kids and staff from further interference and misguided attacks. After two overzealous rescue raids with armed men on our orphanage in less than 60 days we hope the Philippine legal system will evaluate and correct the mistakes and actions anyone is guilty of and act accordingly. Please pray for our 10 year old John Paul who is still with authorities and scared and confused about why he has been interrogated and separated from us. We are working to get him back with us or placed within a Christian home where we can still contact him and help him with his future. My hope and prayer is to regain my health and return to join the kids and our other ministries when doctors and our church feel the time is right. Dear friends, This was on our Facebook page today. Made us both cry and be thankful that God is sovereign and will have His way in all this. He is the one who loves us so we can love others. And we have chosen to especially love 31 of the most precious kids ever! Heidi wrote this poem about Tom. She is one of our girls back in Lucena City and is staying with our friends from church along with some of our other girls. She is in college and studying medical tech. She also sings beautifully and has such a happy smile! She loves The Lord and we know He has special plans for her. As I ponder the love that I saw in his eyes, A Godly love, given without compromise.... I recall many times that he stood by my side, And prodded me on with great vigor and pride. His voice ever confident, firm and yet fair, Always speaking with patience, tenderness and care. The power and might of his hands was so sure, I knew there was nothing we couldnt endure. Its true a few others provided insight. Yet he laid the foundation that kept me upright. Hes the grandest of men to have lived on this earth Although hes not royal by stature or birth. Hes a man of great dignity, honor, and strength. His merits are noble and of admirable length. Hes far greater than all other men that I know. Hes my dad, hes my mentor, my friend. ....I love you Daddy Tom! I know God is in control. :) Love, Mommy Karen and Daddy Tom The first photo is Heide as a little girl with Tom. The second is Heide today on the right. Another one of our girls, Tinalyn, is on the left.
