Heres the latest from the WTSA Newsroom: * A bridge construction project on Route 100 in Whitingham has begun. The Vermont Agency of Transportation says motorists can expect short term lane closings in both directions while the work is underway. * Repairs to the Green River covered bridge in Guilford will begin Monday. The bridge will be closed to ALL traffic through Friday, September 15th. Starting Wednesday, August 27th, the bridge will reopen for pedestrian traffic only. The project will involve excavation of the west side section of Stage Road near the approach to the covered bridge. River Road as it junctures with (west) Stage Road will remain open to through traffic but please expect delays. * Vermont governor Peter Shumlin says revenues aren’t growing as quickly as expected, and he’s asking state agency heads to recommend $31-million in budget cuts. The states general fund revenues now are expected to grow by about 3% during this fiscal year, versus the nearly 5% growth that had been forecast earlier. * New Hampshire’s Division of Emergency Services will be collecting road and addressing information in the city of Keene. Officials will be going to each structure in the town collecting actual coordinates and all posted addresses. If addresses are not clearly posted, officials may need to verify resident or utility information. The officials will always be in a clearly marked state vehicle and all employees have ID’s and carry information cards with the bureau contact information. * New Hampshire’s Insurance Department says the requirements for health plans should focus on making sure consumers have adequate access to different types of services. The states network adequacy standards have been in the spotlight since the department approved Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shields narrow network for individual health plans sold through the Affordable Care Act. More companies will be offering plans next year. * Vermont senator Bernie sanders remains upset with house members of a veteran’s conference committee, claiming they just want to focus on current problems with the care system and don’t want to address future needs. Sanders, who chairs the senate Veterans affairs committee, says he’s offered to trim the proposed cost, but house negotiators say the bottom line is still too high. * The first of four Windham County state senate primary forums take place tonight. The Windham County Democratic Committee is sponsoring the event, at 6:30 at the Townshend Town Hall. Four democrats are seeking a pair of spots on the general election ballot in next month’s primary. * Brattleboro’s Boys and Girls Club and the Brattleboro Recreation Department are raising money by selling rubber ducks. Ricky Davidson of the Boys and Girls Club says their annual duck derby has been a huge success for over 20 years. The winners will be drawn August 6th. *Midday lottery numbers: TS Pick 3: 5-8-5 TS Pick 4: 6-3-9-2 Mass: 2-0-7-4
