Heres the letter I sent to my local Northeast CT paper for publication. If you would like to use it or ideas from it for your own paper, have at it!!! I will see if I can shorten it for another papers word limits. Editor: Nosebleeds. Headaches. Irritability. Frustration. Depression. What do all of these elements have in common? They are the result of Common Core programming being instituted in schools throughout our nation. Not only are our nation’s children suffering the consequences of this copywritten agenda (top down, one-size-fits-all approach), but so are teachers and administrators. This Common Core agenda has been instituted in states whose politicians took the big bucks back in 2010 without being told what’s involved. Most states took the money. Several states are now backing out, to varying extents, from this agenda of tracking not only the student but their parents as well. It’s not only “education” in this Common Core, but oh, so much more. Look on-line; Do a search. Check out you tube videos on this matter. You will see first-hand what the results of Common Core are. We need to nip this in the bud here in Connecticut too. Moms all across America are speaking out against this agenda, in huge numbers. In Connecticut, we are fortunate to have one of these tireless moms. She has coordinated a meeting to which I invite you all. The goal of this meeting of legislators, parents, teachers, administrators, and concerned citizens is to garner support to hold a hearing at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Here are the details. Saturday, February 22, 2014. Noon to 3 p.m. Portland Senior Center, Portland, CT. Invite your House Representative and State Senator to this event. They need to be involved in fighting this agenda as well. Please come and invite others. We all need to be in this fight together, to remove Connecticut from the list of Common Core states.
