Heres the message I just sent to Kyle. Please lets make this happen. Let me know ASAP so we can get an idea and get things rolling. Read below: Hi everyone. Due to the cancellation of the Centre tri some of us would still like to get together and make it happen. Same time, same place. Without the official support of the Centre it will be bit more difficult to hold a fully organized / supported event. However I believe we can still have a fun and legit experience. We still have access to the facility to swim. I assume non-Centre members will have to purchase a day pass. A day pass costs $10.00 and that would be your fee to race. Centre members race for free. The swim will be 400 yds in the pool. We will do waves as necessary. We will have to transition to the FRONT PARKING LOT. So instead of using the street for T1 we will have to use the parking lot. This is not really a problem at all. The life guards will be on duty as usual for the swim portion. Im guessing you will probably have to count your own laps. You have to count to 8. The bike course will be the same as last year. The only slight change is we have to leave from the front parking lot instead of the east side of the Centre. The course will be swept and marked with chalk. It would be my goal to have a few volunteers at key intersections like GG and G for traffic control / blind intersections. The course as and has always is open to traffic and with a few less volunteers on course we would have to keep our heads up a bit more than usual. Transition 2 would be back to the front parking lot. The bike course is actually very simple to follow. The run course is again unchanged but starts from the front parking lot. The course would again be marked in chalk with mile markers hopefully marked. The run course would end as usual between the Hockey rink and Centre. As far as SWAG, official timing / etc....well....there will be none. Im hoping to have SOMEONE to take an overall time. We would body mark so everyone would have a number and the timer would write down numbers and take times at each transition and at the finish line. It would be my goal to make the event as official as possible with the volunteers we can gather. I want it to be fun and safe and to make the first timers be as comfortable as possible. There should be no intimidation factor here. With no fuss this may be one of the most fun events you ever do. Since this will be a pretty big undertaking Id like to have no less than 15 participants to move forward. Therefore I need to have people respond to me asap and let me know if you are coming. Please reply to my email below! Thanks and I hope to see you all next Sunday. Chris Stevens cmscat50@hotmail
