STATUS/LENGTH: Full-Time Regular Job Description ID #: 1136 JOB SUMMARY: Working alone, under the general supervision of the Route Supervisor, or Inspector, operates transit vehicles safely and efficiently. Transports passengers in a respectful & courteous manner on previously designated routes and schedules. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: Possess a clean and clear driving record (no demerit points and/or no infractions) for three years previous to the application and at the time of hire and a valid driver’s licence, Class ‘G’ minimum requirement. (Candidate’s must provide a recent copy of a driver abstract upon request. Driver abstracts cannot be older than 14 days upon submission.) Recent demonstrated experience working with the public, normally acquired through substantial and direct customer service experience which would include conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation, interpersonal communication and problem solving. Thrive in a minimally supervised environment. Be capable of meeting the physical demands of the job: such as sitting for prolonged periods of time, using extremity motion such as reaching, gripping, push/pull of steering wheel, twisting and turning of neck. Be capable of obtaining a Class B license. (In order to determine eligibility for a Class B license, we are required to inquire into the criminal record of anyone being considered for hiring as a bus operator, as per Reg. 462 H.T.A). Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Employment offers are subject to: - Ability to obtain a Class B license. - Satisfactory references attesting to attendance, quality of work, punctuality & social interaction skills. - Completion of a job related examination certifying as to the physical fitness & aptitude of the applicant. - Continued employment is subject to the candidate’s ability to successfully complete the Training Program and a 900 hour probationary period.
