Heres the thing - Douglas Adams reckons its a good idea to have the bureaucrats, hairdressers and like minded folk sent as advance party to visit lost and lonely worlds. Can we send the google monetizers with them? They have taken a perfectly usable system of mapping and turned it into rubbish in the hope of attracting money grubbing marketing types devaluing their product by making it untolerable rubbish. Better still is there a real internet lurking under this monetized dross we are drowning in? Monetized internet is the single occupant sedan of the 21st century. Its quicker, cheaper and less polluting to get round town by bicycle and its quicker to make a mud map with a pencil and paper. How much water is being turned to steam and vapour cooling the stacks that store and transmit this dross. How much coal is being burned to turn these whisps of aspiration into next years forest fires and disrupted flora and fauna cycles. Despair.
