Heres the thing: We have all made mistakes. No less here on FBook than anywhere else. EARLY on in my (then) reluctant participation in FBook, I befriended willy nilly. Willy wasnt known to me in real life and we eventually parted ways. Speaking my mind here has led to being disenfriendchised (I eschew unfriended) by high school & college friends, family and total strangers. Ive never untied a connection here, but I have been set adrift...... Later, it became my policy not to befriend anyone I had not ACTUALLY met until they had been properly vetted. Fortunately, this was after I acquired my imaginary friends- Dave, Brian and Ralph. (Dave and I met through a friend who subsequently.... shall we say..... moved on from us.) I say imaginary because time and distance only allow me to imagine their lives, surroundings and well, existence. We are a sort of virtual dorm. Dave is down the hall, Ralph is an RA & Brian keeps finding himself on the girls floor....... Seriously, my friendship with these three knuckleheads is such that they all just laughed at my calling them knuckleheads (though only one made a Stooges comparison.) FBook is such that not until this weekend had two of them officially connected as friends here. They have commented dozens of thymes on the same posts (my time pun is meant to refer the spiciness of some arguments.) But somehow (thank God) we are in each others lives. Which brings me to my point. Point? FBook is so divisive. The political forum tends to have an overarching presence.... and it cuts ties (all of my dismissals were based in political discourse.) Yet Four Musketeers (or Moosketeers as we are all Bullwinkle fans) have banded together largely due to our similarities but our differences are just as attractive. Which says to me this- FBook succeeds in bringing us closer. As loopy and irritating and wrongheaded as it sometimes appears, FBook MAKES connections. It is just up to us to make them worthwhile. All four one......
